What to expect
Following a busy day of media briefings held by Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft, it falls to Sony to bring proceedings to a close and, simultaneously, reinvigorate frazzled local and online viewers after a long day (or night).
Confirmed for show at the Expo are a range of games that Sony will hope helps sell the PlayStation 4 to a broad audience: cinematic “Beyond: Two Souls,” online leaderboard frenzy “DriveClub,” power fantasy game “InFamous: Second Son,” a pair of “Killzone” shooters, and even the towering “Destiny,” despite speculation that it will release on Microsoft machines first.
There’s also an opportunity to push “The Last of Us,” launching on PlayStation 3 four days later, sell viewers on the validity of “Gran Turismo 6″ on PS3 rather than PS4, and further whet appetites for well-anticipated Vita title “Little Big Planet.”
And with Ubisoft and Electronic Arts having wrapped up their own presentations earlier in the day, there’s an opportunity for them to reappear on the Sony stage — though EA’s apparently cosy relationship with the Xbox One may put a dampener on that particular party.
